The chaos began with the languages
The day in Cairo is driven by hectic and chaos, the many unordered things ordering themselves. In the depths of the city, calls to prayer are barely perceptible. Faith and religion are omnipresent here in Egypt. Here on the outskirts of Cairo near the Pyramids of Giza, the chanting and prayers can be heard clearly through the loudspeakers.
Of course you only hear Arabic here. Everything is dropped as soon as communal prayer comes to the fore in life. By the way, women are only allowed to pray at home.
This is exactly where my idea comes in. Each of you probably knows the headset tour guides from the museums. Comfortable, easy to use and versatile. Unfortunately, these devices only ever work with a predetermined recorded text. So if you want to translate prayers, singing, rallies, speeches or lectures in other countries digitally and in real time, there is currently no product that is up to these complex tasks. Only the interpreter in a group could do this. So many jobs have been saved for the time being.
In a large room where only one speaks and the other mice only listen, a simple Google translator can of course be used to translate the spoken or sung language.
So how can a product be generated once again from a problem? A service - to create a service.
Inexpensive and usable for everyone is, as so often, the motto. An application is needed that can cope with all these tasks.
If you spend a certain amount of time in another country, it quickly becomes clear that it's stupid not to understand everything. This is exactly where this app is intended to help tourists, travelers, curious people and locals.
Imagine you are sitting in a cafe and you are drinking a cup of coffee or tea alone, with friends or a travel group. Suddenly the insanely loud singing or prayer starts. You don't understand a word. The Next Natural Response. You get angry, you get annoyed, you grab your smartphone to start music. Some then ask the tour guide what it is about and what is being told there. Others leave the table in the garden and sit inside to continue relaxing in a cozy place. The reactions could be deepened and certainly fill a DIN A4 page.
The most important thing about the app will be to correctly deduce the language to be translated. You can work with self-learning programs and software. The programming world speaks of artificial intelligence. In combination with existing translator programs, a finely tuned tool can be created. If you fall back on online databases that have a large number of languages and texts, the whole thing becomes more precise and simpler.
A tricky situation for technology could look like this. You / We are sitting at a table and someone in the group is talking about a trip. So this one voice stands out. If there is also the singing or the prayer from the loudspeakers that we would like to have translated or recorded, it becomes difficult. At least as far as my current understanding of the technology is concerned.
But the solution to this could be simpler than it sounds. Today the software is able to distinguish between a natural voice and an electronic voice. So if someone speaks through a loudspeaker, this would be recognizable.
What should the app be able to do. Recognize desired languages and translate them directly.
The app should be able to record. The app learns what kind of voices you would like to have translated. Next time, the app can remind you as a user to record a language or translate it aloud. Schedule the recording at fixed times.
