the camera idea

As so often, you only see the things that are missing when you have dealt extensively with the product. It may be a small change in today's common and popular camera systems but it saves the user/photographer/artist and ultimately me a lot of time.

Today you can set a camera so that it saves every photo in the uncompressed and almost lossless RAW file format. In addition, a second file in JPG format is often also saved. In this example, the resolution of a Canon 5DS camera is used. In RAW, this saves 50 to 80 megabytes per photo. In the largest JPG format, between 15 and 25 MB is saved there.

If you run a website or want to upload photos somewhere else for private or professional purposes, you have the following problem. In order to keep the loading times low, there are general recommendations that a photo should be less than 1 megabyte in size. 500 KB or even less is better.

In total, only 2 formats are possible as the camera saves.

So there is the possibility to have the camera save in RAW and the smallest JPG format. The smallest Canon format is S3, which corresponds to a pixel size of 720x480 = 0.3 MB or 300 KB. Depending on the application, this format is already too small. The next larger format is S2 with 1920 x 1280 pixels. Corresponds to FULL HD resolution as known from computers or TV sets. Here the memory needs 2.5 MB = 2500 KB.

The format is almost too big for many areas if you want to publish them on a website.

Anyone who often goes to take photos will quickly see that taking photos is the most comfortable and beautiful aspect of photography. The actual time-consuming work only begins with the further processing of the photos. From the camera > to the computer > from the computer to the photo editing program > or upload it directly to the Internet > or send it unedited to others > In the case of commissioned work, the photo files must be edited and made beautiful > Usually then sent to a printing manufacturer > Regional The photo shop around the corner is happy about it > For data protection reasons you can also switch to the large online photo printing companies. There is a lot of automation and giant machines complete the order. But even there you have to see which format the manufacturer wants to have. Large, small, medium.

So what would be the solution for this finding to increase working comfort and efficiency?

The camera manufacturer must simply give the user / photographer / artist or me the opportunity to save every photo taken in at least 3 or 4 sizes (not in only 2 as is common today).

If you only have large formats and you need small ones, there are tools in the photo programs, so-called converters. But it's just one more step and you have to do it more often. This adds up to the time wasted just resizing photos. It is nothing else. waste of working time.

The additional format could actually be called the www format or the website format. As a user, you immediately understand that only a little photo information is completely sufficient on websites. Additional information can be stored via the help menu of the camera.

All in all, this adjustment can make many millions of photography enthusiasts out there happy.
